nuclear deterrent : 核遏制力

本周一，朝鲜外务省发言人发表讲话，谴责美国政府以人权问题为名颠覆朝鲜政权的图谋，强调朝鲜将进一步加强核遏制力等自卫力量，以应对美国的敌视政策。

外电报道中有这样一句话：The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Monday vowed¹ to boost its defence capability² --including a nuclear deterrent³ -- to cope with Washington's criticism of its human rights record.

Nuclear deterrent 意思是“核遏制力”，deterrent此处作名词用，意思是“阻碍物；威慑物”。Deterrent也可作形容词，表示“威慑的”，比如，deterrent weapons（威慑性武器），deterrent policy（威慑政策）。
