Regulators in Wisconsin and many other states are hearing a significant jump in complaints about what is often called “caller ID spoofing” or “call laundering¹.”

 

美国威斯康星州和其他州的监管机构不断接到人们对“来电显示欺诈”行为的抱怨。

 

文中的caller ID spoofing或call laundering就是指“来电显示欺诈”，caller ID（也即Caller Identification）就是指“来电者身份”或“主叫身份”，caller ID display就是“来电显示”。Spoofing就是指“电子欺骗”，即通过假冒合法用户的身份来进行网络攻击，从而达到掩盖攻击者真实身份，嫁祸他人的目的。Laungering在这里的意思与money laundering（洗钱）中的用法类似，均表示通过一个貌似合法的途径来掩盖非法的行为或所得。

 

Caller ID spoofing（来电显示欺诈）是指更改或操纵来电显示信息的行为。通过网络或预付卡获得欺骗服务，任何人都可以用虚假的caller ID information(主叫识别信息)掩盖电话的原始来源信息。Automated² dialing technology或 robocalling（自动转接电话技术）使得telemarketers（电话营销商）更轻易地就能制造caller ID spoofing(来电显示欺诈)行为。
