  THIS TIME IT'S ON ME
At noon the rush hour had passed. In the initially crowded noshery , the guests had meltedaway. When the boss was about to take a break to read a newspaper, in came an old lady and alittle boy.
“How much is a bowl of beef soup?” the grandma sat down, fumbled out her purse, countedthe money and ordered a bowl of steaming beef soup. The grandma pushed the bowl towards thelittle boy, who swallowed his saliva, looking at his grandma and saying, “Grandma, did you reallyhave lunch?” “Of course.” His grandma chewed a piece of pickled radish slowly. In a flash, thelittle boy ate up the meal.
Seeing this sight, the boss went over to them and said, “Old lady, congratulations, you arelucky to be free of charge, for you are our 100th guest.”
Afterwards, over a month or more, one day, the small boy squatted across the noshery, wherehe seemed to be counting something, which shocked the boss when he happened to look out of thewindow.
It turned out that when he saw a guest walk into the noshery, the small boy would put a smallstone into the circle he drew, but the lunch time had almost elapsed, the small stones he put intothe circle were hardly 40.
The extremely anxious boss called up all the old customers. The customers started comingone after another.
“71, 72, 73, 74...” the small boy counted faster and faster. At last, when the 99th small stonewas put into the circle, the little boy hurried to pull his grandma's hand and went into the snackbar.
“Grandma, this time it's on me,” the little boy said kind of proudly. The grandma who hadbecome the real 100th guest was entertained a bowl of steaming beef soup by her grandson. As hisgrandma did before, the small boy chewed a piece of pickled radish in his mouth.
